How Many People Can Play H. O. R. S. E. ?

Filed under: Fun Links, Gambling Parlor, Universe Of Games — admin at 2:06 pm on Monday, May 11, 2009

I hope that you are starting to realize that H.O.R.S.E. is the wave of the online poker future. It is the kind of game that separates the real casino players from those who are just drawn to the tournaments due to the popularity of Texas Hold’em. Hopefully, there will soon be a huge rush of people who are practicing their H.O.R.S.E. games in order to enter the big tournaments.

Before you rush off to sponsor a H.O.R.S.E. online poker tournament at home, you need to know that only eight people can sit at a H.O.R.S.E. table. That’s right- only eight. You poker players out there probably know off of the top of your head that a Texas Hold’em game ( the H in H.O.R.S.E.) can take up to ten- so why the lower number?

To answer that question, we have to turn to Seven Card Stud. Because so many cards are in use in a Seven Card Stud game, only eight players can ever sit down at a table. Even with eight players, you can still run into tricky situations if everyone hangs on until the fifth street. Adding more players would just further complicate and already tenuous situation. Moral of the story: Keep your H.O.R.S.E. game small. Maximum number of players 8, but a few less will work even better.

Building A Credit Report Lenders Will Love You For

Filed under: Mathematics Stuff — admin at 12:07 pm on Sunday, May 10, 2009

Will lenders really love you for having a good credit report score? Love is not the right word of course; lenders are after your money, and never forget that. But the lender’s representative will love dealing with your credit application if your credit report is good. If you have a high credit score and spotless credit record, then when you apply for a large loan, you stand a good chance of not only getting the loan approved, but obtaining a competitive interest rate.

How, then, do you go about building up a good credit report score?

The most important thing you can do when beginning to build a good credit report is to always pay your bills on time and to never, ever borrow more than you can afford to pay back. It sounds simple and obvious, but unfortunately, credit can be very tempting, and if you allow yourself to be seduced by the allure of easy credit, you could quickly find yourself in some difficulty. Credit card debt is often the biggest and most impulsive temptation. However, it is essential for your financial well being, and for building a good credit report, that you set and remember your long term goals. You must resist the instant gratification of easy and expensive credit, such as with a credit card.

These days, if you have a good credit record, as reflected in your credit report, it means more than ever. Your chances of getting a car, a house, or being approved for personal loans or credit cards, has for many years been affected by your credit report. Increasingly, though, the report is being accessed for more reasons. Background checks by employers, for example, may include looking at your credit report, and even insurance companies sometimes consider credit reports when deciding whether or not to extend coverage.

To achieve a good credit record, you must have shown that you have borrowed money and then paid it back in accordance with the terms of a loan, with regard to both times and amounts. It also means that you have shown that you do not over extend yourself on credit. One thing to be careful about, though, is not to apply for a lot of loans or credit cards just to increase your chances of being successful in obtaining credit with one. If you do it too many times, you may look like a high risk.

It is a good idea to start building your credit reputation as a young adult. Whether through cell phone ownership or student credit cards, you can start to convince lenders you are a good credit risk, by paying on time every time, and if possible by more than the minimum.

A next step to building a good credit report score is by taking out a car loan. Cars are generally expensive, so a car loan is a real test of your credit score potential. Paying that loan off on time will have a wonderful affect on your credit reputation and report.

Once you have been using credit for a while, you may find it beneficial to monitor your credit and make sure all is well. Request a copy of your credit report once a year, from each credit bureau. It is important to know which of your credit accounts appear in which reports, and to ensure they are all accurate. It is okay to increase both spending and credit, so long as you do not over extend yourself. If you find mistakes on your credit report, make sure you follow the Bureau’s instructions to challenge it, in writing. If you follow these steps, you can get your credit rating up to an AAA status and keep it there.

Is there a leprechaun in your garden

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 12:55 pm on Friday, May 8, 2009

There is no mention to be found of female leprechauns in traditional Irish legend, so as to how they came to be .. your guess is as good as mine.

These apparently aged, diminutive men are hard-working cobblers, turning out exquisite shoes for other sprites. If you happen across an industrious little fellow hammering out a shoe, look closely - for he may be a leprechaun. Step quietly, for leprechauns will avoid humans, knowing us to be foolish and greedy.

A leprechaun dresses in old-fashioned clothes of green, with a red cap, multi-pocketed leather apron, and buckled shoes. He is quite fond of a smoke from his foul smelling clay pipe which is always close by, and he is frequently in an intoxicated state from home-brew poteen. However, a leprechaun never becomes so drunk that the hand which holds the hammer becomes unsteady and his shoemaker’s work affected. If you hear the sound of a hammer from behind a hedgerow you know you have found him.

As well as cobbling, his other trade is banking, and he is guardian to the ancient treasures. Much treasure was left by the Danes when they marauded through Ireland, and the leprechaun buries it in crocks or pots. Rainbows reveal where pots of gold are hidden, so he will sometimes spend all day moving crocks from one spot to another to elude the tell-tale end of the rainbow. If you catch a leprechaun, don’t let him out of your grasp before he reveals his gold. He’ll try to distract you with all manner of tricks and, in the blink of an eye, will dash out of sight. For such a sturdy little chap, he can move with the speed of a rabbit.

He carries two leather pouches. In one there is a silver shilling, a magical coin that returns to the purse each time it’s spent. In the other there is a gold coin for bribing his way out of difficult situations. (Don’t accept this coin - it turns into a rock). But he can be generous if you do him a good turn. Your kind deed wil be repaid with a wish.

Leprechauns come in two distinct groups - leprechaun and cluricaun. A cluricaun dresses very stylishly with a jaunty cap, large silver buckles on his shoes, beautiful gold laces and pale blue stockings. You will never see him wear an apron or carry a hammer. He has a jolly grin, a slightly pink-tipped nose and is almost always drunk and cheerful. Pass him by, for he never has any money, or any idea where treasure is buried.

A cluricaun will steal or borrow almost anything, making merry and creating mayhem in your house during the hours of darkness. He will happily busy himself raiding your kitchen, pantry, larder and cellar and after dinner he will harness your sheep, goats, dogs and even your domestic fowls to ride away.Through the countryside he will race them, over the fields and into the bog. Leprechauns denounce cluricaun behavior, but it has been said that cluricauns may just be leprechauns on drunken sprees.

You can make a trap with common household items. Take a net, a cardboard box, green paint, green tissue paper, some pennies and an old shoe. Firstly, paint the cardboard box green and place the old shoe inside. Cover the opening with thin green tissue paper. Carefully lay the pennies on the tissue paper. (If you don’t want to use real money, you can easily substitute chocolate gold- wrapped coins or make your own by cutting circles out of cardboard and painting them gold).

Place the trap near some trees or hedgerows. Make sure it’s disguised well and blends into the surroundings. When the Leprechaun sees the coins he will try to collect them. He will step onto the tissue paper, it will break and he will fall into the box. Now quickly throw the net over him.

You can also try to lure a leprechaun with some poteen instead of an old shoe. When he falls into the box he will drink the brew, get drunk and then you can grab him.

No one has yet caught a leprechaun, but don’t be discouraged. Start looking today. Good luck !!

Something Different for the Weekend

Filed under: Adventure, Great Food, Recreation Hub — admin at 5:24 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2009

So life’s been a bit boring lately and now you’re looking at another weekend of doing just more of the same old same old? Well here’s a suggestion for something totally different that’s really going to shake you out of your rut and get the adrenalin flowing … even if you’re a little too old to get too excited.

How about getting out of the city and into the countryside where there are some great restaurants and fine wine just waiting for you? Imagine having lunch away from the hustle and bustle of the city and somewhere you can really enjoy the cuisine and the company.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking, you won’t be able to drink too much because you’re going to have to drive there and back and that means fighting with the traffic and … it might be better just to stay at home. Well stop thinking that way and start thinking outside the box … outside the square … somewhere beyond your limited imagination.

Start thinking about a chartering a helicopter to take you out of your rut and off to lunch one of those fine country restaurants I was just talking about. You can do it you know … it’s not as expensive as you might think and instead of fighting the traffic you’ll be treated to a scenic flight there and back.

If you haven’t tried it before why not try it this weekend? If you’re in Sydney then the best Sydney helicopter charter service is Skyward Helicopters. They regularly take couples and families off to some of the finest restaurants on the Central Coast, the South Coast and up into the Blue Mountains and they can take you there this weekend.

Of course if you’re not in Sydney … or even in Australia for that matter … then check your online phone directory for the nearest helicopter charter and get out there this weekend and enjoy an entirely different experience for lunch.

Edible Flowers in Your Garden

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 1:17 am on Monday, May 4, 2009

Flowers can be an integral part of cooking. While most of us are aware that violets can be candied and nasturtiums can be eaten in salads, there’s a bounty of flower varieties that are both edible and delicious.

Satisfying Your Sweet Tooth with Flowers
Violets are not the only flower that can be candied. Many spring flowers with small, delicate blossoms have a sweet, somewhat spicy flavor that is enhanced by dipping them in sugar. It goes without saying that any flowers that you gather for eating should have been grown without the use of pesticide - by growing them yourself, you can be sure that they’re untreated. A Candy Flower Garden that blooms throughout the summer can include:

Violets - Purple, blue or white, violets are among the first flowers to bloom in the spring. They spread easily, and grow happily when transplanted into a garden bed - and you do want to confine them to a bed unless you love the look of a full carpet of blooms spreading across your lawn.

Pansies - A relative of violets, pansies are just as delicately flavored and can be used as a substitute in recipes that call for violets. They make beautiful border flowers to boot.

Angelica - These delicate, lacy white flowers can be sprinkled in salads - but the stems and shoots make a delicious traditional candy that tastes a bit like licorice with a hint of mint.

Roses - Candied rose petals and rose syrup were mainstays in Victorian cooking. Sweet delicately flavored rose syrup gives baklava its characteristic flavor, and is a perfect foil for cardamom in Indian recipes.

To candy flowers from your garden:
Violets and pansies can be candied whole. Roses should be separated into petals. Most recipes for candied flowers call for the use of raw egg whites. Using a confectioner’s powdered egg white instead reduces risk of salmonella.

Mix powdered egg white according to package directions (equivalent of one egg white).
Spread a cup of superfine sugar in a flat bottomed pan. Carefully dip each flower into the egg white, then press into the sugar. Use a fork to gently turn the flower so that all surfaces of the petals are covered. Lift out of sugar and lay on a screen or drying rack till completely dry. Apple and cherry blossoms can also be candied the same way.

A Soup, Salad and Savory Flower Garden
Early summer squash blossoms may be dipped in egg and flour, then fried in olive oil with garlic. The blossoms have a sweet, nutty flavor that is like nothing else. Other garden flowers that are delicious in soups and salads include:

Borage - Like the leaves, borage flowers are delicious in salads and cold soups. They have a cool, cucumber like taste that translates well from flower garden to kitchen table.

Carnations - The flavor is as spicy as the scent. Carefully separate the petals from the bitter white of the flower’s base and sprinkle in salads for a surprising touch of color and spice.

Daylilies - Like squash blossoms, day lilies have a mildly sweet, nutty flavor that many people think varies by color. Dredged in flour and dipped in egg, fried daylilies are quite succulent and unique in flavor.

These are just a small sampling of the many edible flowers from your garden. Be careful in your taste-testing. If you are not sute if a flower is edible do not eat it.

Edgings Can Enhance Your Flower Garden

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 11:31 pm on Sunday, May 3, 2009

The edging of a garden is almost as important as the garden itself. It’s like a picture frame. The picture can be interesting and beautiful, but it needs a frame to really enhance its appearance.

There are many different types of garden edgings. Many people prefer to use something heavy and permanent, like a low brick wall, or rocks set together with mortar. However, not everyone is physically capable of creating such a structure.

Bricks set freely can be just as effective. They can be placed in a simple line, end to end, or stacked in a double row, with gaps in between. They can also be set diagonally, leaning against each other for support.

Another attractive idea is to decorate short lengths of board with old tiles. Tiles can often be purchased very cheaply from re-cycling places. Glue your choice of tile along the board using an outdoor glue. On each end of the board, tack a peg with one end pointed. This will be used to push into the soil to support your board and keep it off the ground.

Bush rocks are another easy idea to give your garden that finished look. They need not be too big, unless you have plenty of muscle or help. You may be able to gather rocks from a friends farm, or from the bush if that is legal in your area. Otherwise, garden suppliers usually have plenty to choose from.

Yet another idea is to create a living edging. Choose a plant that will be suitable for your climate and conditions. The pretty pink of alpine phlox is an attractive border and the plants can be divided and planted again and again. Many other plants can be propagated in this way, thus reducing the initial costs. Of course, your border will take a little more time to get established than if you bought all the necessary plants at once.

Gazanias are another hardy border plant that can be divided many times. Bulbs might seem like a good choice too, but remember that they will die down and leave your borders looking messy for ages. Also, they remain dormant for at least six months, so if you plant anything else there you risk damaging the bulbs. Of course, you can dig them up and replace them with something else, but you may prefer a more permanent border edge to save on the workload.

If you have a larger garden, comfrey is a plant to consider using for an edging plant. Its thick growth habit will prevent any grasses intruding into the garden, and the leaves can be pulled for excellent mulch around roses or other plants. It has delightful, dainty flowers in season too. However, a small garden could be overwhelmed by more than one comfrey plant.

In a small garden attractive annuals like sweet alice, pansies, violas or petunias make great borders. For something a bit different, try an herb border. Then you can go out and pick your herbs any time you want. Chives have a crisp green color that would make your garden sparkle while strawberries will entice the kids out into the fresh air to have a healthy snack.

Some people prefer to simply bevel an edge around their garden with the shovel. This is a good option if your lawn has the sort of grass with runners, like kikuyu. Those runners can be kept under control by chopping them off every so often with the edge of the shovel.

Whatever option you choose, it will enhance your garden to have a beautiful edging.

How To Replace The Rollers On Your Patio Door

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 5:59 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2009

Have you noticed your patio door is getting harder and harder to open ? Maybe it’s time to change the rollers on the door. They generally last from ten to fifteen years but they do wear out and its a job that a do-it-yourselfer can accomplish with a little advice and some strong arms to get the door out !

Sliding patio doors are usually aluminum but there are many wooden and vinyl models on the market. All of them use ball bearing rollers to slide easily back and forth. The aluminum and some vinyl doors have a door bottom that is held in place by 2 screws on either side of the door near the bottom. Beneath the screw is usually an open hole in which there is an adjusting screw to raise the roller up and down. The wooden doors often have pairs of rollers due to their extra weight. The adjusting screws are accesible through plastic caps covering holes in the front of the door bottom.

I mention the adjusting screws because you need to check them before deciding to pull the door out and replace the rollers. Slide a big flat blade screwdriver underneath the door on one side and lift slightly to remove the weight from the roller. Use another screwdriver to turn the adjustment screw. See if that makes the door slide better.

Sometimes thats all thats necessary but if the adjusting screws wont turn or are totally missing, you will have to lift the door out of its track and remove the large screws holding the door bottom on and pull the door bottom off. Get help to lift the door out. Two people are needed to safely handle even the smaller patio doors. The door bottom may not pull off easily especially if the door is old. Check for any metal tabs that may be holding it on and gently work the bottom off.

Some old aluminum and vinyl patio doors have rollers that use one screw both to mount the roller and to adjust it. These types of rollers can often be changed without removing the bottom of the door. Look carefully at the bottom of the door in case there is room to pull the roller assembly out.

Wooden patio door rollers are somewhat easier to change, although the door itself is much heavier. The rollers are often screwed in to the wood door bottom. Remove the screws, and out come the roller.

Some Vinyl patio doors are glued together. They were never intended to come apart. You may not be able to remove the rollers if you see no visible screws holding the frame together. Also vinyl doors are often brittle with age and crack easily as you try to pry off the door bottom. Take extra care if you have a vinyl patio door.

Once you have the bottom off the patio door it should be easy to see how the rollers are held in. Usually, removing one screw or bending a metal tab is all thats necessary. Remove the rollers and take them with you to your local glass shop to get the proper replacements.

To reassemble everything start by adjusting the new rollers so they are up as high as they can go. You dont want them getting in the way when you reinstall the door on its track. Make sure you cover the roller retaining screws with cork or rubber if they come near the bare glass in the door bottom. If the metal screws touch the glass, it will crack.

Replace the door bottom, reinstall the screws that secure it and lift the door back in to place. Follow the instructions gave earlier for adjusting the rollers. You should now be able to see the door move up and down when you turn the adjusting screws. You will also be able to align the door with the frame using the screws. Your patio door lock may need to be adjusted to compensate for the new door height.

Try the door and you should be amazed at how easy it is to close. It should only require a couple of pounds of force to open and close. No more fighting with a heavy door and you did it all yourself !

Do You Understand Algebra?

Filed under: Mathematics Stuff, Schools + Schooling, Science Stuff — admin at 4:26 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2009

Algebra as a Science

Algebra scientific discipline is the subdivision of mathematics that is concerned about the study of structure, relation, and quantity. Algebra encompasses working with numbers, variables, sets of elements and also vectors as in linear algebra. You can take algebra as one of the most consequential branches of mathematics, if not the most central. Algebra includes classes such as Linear algebra, Universal algebra and Algebraic geometry.

Want Assistance in Studying Algebra?

Different software applications have been published to help students studying algebra at distinct levels, such software help pupils to go through their courses gradually and develop algebraic problem solving techniques . Nearly all types of algebraic problems can be worked out using these software applications because they support and aid to work around different classes of equations, formulas and inequalities. If you’ve been struggling to solve quadric, simultaneous, exponential or radical and linear equations , you need not worry any more. These software applications most probably will contain an algebraic course of instruction plan and a wizard too; Moreover, algebra calculating systems facilitate a lot of algebraic processes for students interested in mathematics.

Algebra in a Wider Scope

almost all students constantly wonder why we study algebra; they can see no good reason behind it. Well, if we were to talk about usefulness of algebra, then it has both direct and indirect benefits, which I think, algebra students should be aware of. The indirect benefit of studying algebra could be explained in working the mental capacity in an well-conducted design. As per the direct benefit, algebra has a good deal of uses in different scientific disciplines and businesses.

In reality, algebraic applications are used around us, all the time such as in many trades etc, for instance in information technology development or business forecasts. It is also used, in various science researches like physics, quantum mechanics, Informatics and even in the military; one such aspects which will be considered briefly in this article is the algebra applications in programming.

Algebra in Programming

Comparative algebra constructs were the base for the relational database concept. Also, elementary algebra was used in simulating of complex XML models and constructing XML database management systems. Moreover, we can pinpoint usage of algebra for ROM-based Procedural Language and ALF- Algebraic Logic Functioning programming language. Some other advanced programming languages developed for the role of solving algebraic problems as AML-Algebraic Modeling Language, where this language describes the complicated problem, such as compound optimization problems, then calls certain external algorithms to solve the problem.
