Availability of Hair Loss Treatments

Filed under: Beauty Tips, Self Improvement Hall — admin at 9:07 pm on Friday, August 28, 2009

Hair loss and baldness can often affect self confidence, causing depression and lack of confidence. Genetics, aging and hormonal imbalances all contribute to hair loss. However, people who suffer from balding or thinning hair, have numerous hair loss solutions to select from.

For the males, the doctor-prescribed drug, Propecia (generic name Finasteride) is an alternative. The Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) hormone causes baldness and this drug brings down the levels of this hormone. Propecia can reduce DHT levels by 60%, when taken daily. Roughly half of all men who consume Propecia regrow hair on their scalps.

The over-the-counter drug Minoxidil (Rogaine) is available for males and women suffering from hair loss. Research suggests Minoxidil works in approximately one out of every three men who apply the product twice daily. While the five-percent strength is not recommended for women, some physicians will prescribe the higher concentration. Patients applying the higher dose enhanced their hair growth.

Natural supplements are also used as hair loss treatments. Supplements such as flaxseed and primrose oils contain important fatty acids that make hair look thicker and healthier. Vitamin B3, B5, and B6 also promote hair growth. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Coenzyme Q10 stimulate hair follicles to improve scalp circulation. Zinc, Kelp and Copper boost immune functions, aiding hair growth.

Laser hair therapy (LHT) is another latest hair loss treatment approved for women and men. This procedure uses low-light lasers to repair damaged hair cells. Studies suggest that around 90 percent of patients regrow hair. Laser hair therapy also prevents additional hair thinning and loss.

Currently, more hair loss treatments are available to treat male-pattern baldness. However, researchers are conducting studies to further understand which hair loss treatments work best for women. While many options exist, early intervention is the key to improving hair loss and regaining self confidence.

The day I begun noticing my receding hairline and bald spot becoming bigger, I embarked on my hair loss treatment journey. I would always find ways to comb my hair in a certain way to hide my hair loss. I started to wear more and more hats on the weekends as I went out with my wife, friends or family. Walking in to work every morning was a tough experience without my hat on. Your mind will do that to you when you are experiencing hair loss. It is so true that you never know what you have until you lose it. That can be true about your hair loss.

As I looked in the mirror I started to treasure every one of the hair strands I had left. It was as if with each strand of hair I lost, so was a small percent of my confidence gone as well. I was not alone, a acquaintance of mine had been experiencing from the same problem as me. Yet recently he seemed so much more relaxed and I observed that it was as if his hair was growing back. I never wanted to bring it up but after a while I decided to ask. It was then that he told me about Advanced Hair Studios. With just a few treatments my friend Josh had not only regained his hair, but his self-assurance as well. After seeing what Josh has achieved from Advanced Hair, I made up my mind to pay them a visit.

At first, I was a little cynical. Outcomes were evident within a few weeks. Not only on my head, but in my behavior. I started to lose the caps on the weekends and I quickly started to feel better about myself. My wife has also found a change in my day to day behaviour as well. It is amazing how just a few treatments to the Advanced Hair Studio had begun to change my life as a whole. I have constantly been wary about people noticing my bald spot. Now, I am not scared to look people in the eyes again as I have my full set of hair back.

Advance Hair Studio has not only given me back a full set of hair, but a big chunk of my confidence as well. So, if anyone is experiencing hair loss I highly recommend them. Don’t let your confidence continue to be lost with your hair.

The Bare Truth: Human Hair Wigs Deliver Personality

Filed under: Beauty Tips, Improving Your Health, Self Improvement Hall — admin at 11:20 am on Thursday, June 4, 2009

Shopping for human hair wigs on or offline probably isn’t a dream come true. Take it from me, just a classy mother of 2 elementary kids blessed with unfortunate alopecia. I hold pride because I’m known (only by a few - hehe) to discreetly wear a few well-done lace front wigs that I value dearly. I can assure you, you’ll find forgotten personality after experiencing the look of quality human hair wigs. Believe me, quality wigs make a difference for so many ladies who depend on them.

There’s a good chance a lot of you have held similar fears that brought tears to my eyes. “Can it match my hairline?” right there with “Will my scalp breathe underneath it?” were my panic-driven questions, for sure. These fears can be troublesome when you look at the facts and find comfort in how many great looking choices are on the market. Womens wigs made from natural hair, grant ladies in every business with confidence. There’s little to dwell about! People never marvel at a well done wig. That’s because you don’t notice from a person’s actual hair.

Take a look at some wig selection critereon a woman can weigh. Without a doubt the most realisitc wigs are lace front. Wigs styled from human hair are roughly 2 to 3 times more valuable than the others–why? They are tremendously better on all counts! I highly recommend them. Even so, if its just too much for the pocketbook, synthetic hair pieces are not a bad option at all and worthy of your confidence.

As for msyelf, I opt for human hair wigs for several reasons. They last longer and I match my natural color with dye. Not to mention, my scalp can breathe.

Whichever you choose, take your time to find a women’s wig that works for you, so you’ll own the look you’ve earned in confidence. Feel better about your appearance, and even better, be confident with it on. As is the case with any accessory, your wig enhances your style.

Procrastinators Unite! Why Procrastination Is Not So Bad

Filed under: Self Improvement Hall — admin at 5:56 am on Thursday, May 29, 2008

Procrastination has become a disease. Of course, we wouldn’t be living in this day and age if what used to be just a little quirk is now being considered a “negative” thing, or a disease, an ailment that requires medication. Everything for a buck, I say.

I, for one, think that procrastination is a good thing. If you understand the Law of Attraction you know what I mean.

The basic premise of the Law of Attraction is that we must be aligned with cosmic energy. To do so, we are told to send positive thoughts, which, in turn will align us to the Universe. Once that is set, then, it follows that we will be rightly inspired to action.

An uninspired action is fruitless, meaning, no good. You will not feel good and you will offer resistance while acting upon certain things. Hence, the action itself will be just plain bad and the results even worse.

Let me give you an example: I know that every Tuesday I have to write an article for my e-zine. I have some topics in mind that I think you will not only be able to enjoy, but also be able to use my suggestions and feel better. After all, that is what this e-zine is all about.

When I feel the pressure to write when I am not totally ready to do so, I sit in front of the computer, and stare at the monitor for hours. I waste my time because I am not using it in a most productive way. On top of it, the article needs tons of revisions as the message gets all truncated. I have done in the past and I don’t recommend it to anyone. Things don’t work as they should.

However, if I wait until my inspiration flows in, I am pretty sure that not only I will write an inspiring article, but also I will write it much faster and be done with it in no time. And feel good in the process.

I can give you tons of examples on how we force actions and waste time. And then complain we can’t accomplish things. No wonder. Think about when you had to write a college report, or when you needed to vacuum, or empty your suitcases and put your clothes away after traveling, and, gee whiz, do your taxes!

You were completely non-aligned with the Universe; you hated to do what you must. You were unhappy. And that is no good. So, now that you know better, next time a similar situation arises, take these two suggestions:

1. Wait until the inspiration comes

Sitting in front of the computer doing nothing will do me no good. However, while I am waiting for my inspired action, I respond to my most important my emails, I do business, I make plans for future articles and books, I read about things I am interested in learning at the moment, and so on.

Soon, just like magic, I know exactly what I will write and put together a good article in no time. Instead of wasting time, I have increased my business, learned about something new, got in touch with my loved ones, and so on.

2. Outsource

I know my limitations and act upon what I love and know how to do well. Who am I to deal with numbers? Why, I can’t quite do a budget, let alone taxes. I love to think about money; I just don’t care for calculating.

My inspiration will never come when I think about doing taxes. I am not aligned to the Universe in that sense. Instead of developing a headache and gaining 10 pounds eating chocolate (comfort food), I give my papers to a person who loves to do this kind of thing, and is good at it as well. Do I have to pay for his services? You bet! But boy, this is one of my best investments, if you ask me, because I feel free to do the things I love and fell happy in the process.

So there. Next time someone criticizes you for being a procrastinator just say: “I am not a procrastinator; I am just waiting for inspiration.” And leave it at that.

Now, before you declare that you are not at all inspired, give your task a try. Sometimes, it is only a matter of jump starting; you will soon see that a little kick was just what you needed. Go for it!

See? In no time I just wrote over 740 words. I only hope you read and enjoyed them all.

Nothing Ever Stays The Same

Filed under: Self Improvement Hall — admin at 4:18 am on Thursday, May 29, 2008

Nothing ever stays the same. On the one hand we despise change yet on the other we don’t want to stagnate and become boring. Yet our habits keep us locked into a course of action day after day, year after year. The way we think, the way we behave, the way we experience things, the way we react to incidents, all are dominated by our habits. They are so strong that most of do not even know what they are. Whatever our habits are they keep us fixed in a particular perspective or behaviour. They stop us reaching our potential.

Our habits are basically involuntary acts we perform unintentionally and without thinking. We just are them. Yes. We are our habits. Whether, you lack confidence, find it difficult to make decisions, always arrive late for an appointment, can’t say no …, feel lonely, feel stupid, think others always know best…… these are all habits. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that you can change. Change is based on choice. Once you realise what your habits are, you have more chance of changing them. It may not be easy. It may be painful, sometimes. But it is also fun and rewarding because you are changing your life. You are opening yourself to see the possibilities of your potential. What you are capable of.

History shows us that there are four key ingredients to successfully change habits:

Reflection, Realisation, Resolve and Sustained Effort.

In other words all you have to do is imagine you are the gardener of your life:

Reflect on the state of your garden.
Realise what are weeds and what are flowers.
Remove the weeds
Replace the weeds with flowers and make a sustained effort to keep the garden clear of weeds you don’t want.

So. What is the largest weed in your garden? Which habit causes you most pain?

What is keeping this weed in place? What stops you from pulling it out?

Look at all the obstacles and think of the best method for eradicating the weed. Remember some weeds do not come out at first pull. They leave a little root behind. Some are better killed off with weed killer rather than a tortuous pull. Look for the best method for your weed.

Now, what flower would you like to plant in its place? What behaviour would you like to put in instead of the habit? You will need something because all of us that have changed habits are aware of the need for a transitory behaviour. A good example is giving up smoking. The transitory behaviour is either: something to do with your hands, instead of holding a cigarette; gum to chew when you would light a cigarette or a sweet to pop into your mouthy when you feel like a cigarette.

So what flower would you like to put in place of your weed?
The next phase is the key to success.

For all gardeners the next phase is the most easy and yet the most difficult. Make a sustained effort to keep the weed out of your garden. This is the key. It is so easy to say I’ve done it and walk away. Sustained effort can also be called zeal and enthusiasm. Be passionate about clearing your weed. Tell others what you are doing. Avoid incidents that would automatically set the weed off. Keep looking at your new flower. Have zeal and enthusiasm for your new flower. Keep focussed on the flower. Make a sustained effort to keep the new flower watered and the area around it free from weeds. Nourish it. Fertilise it. Talk to it. Gradually the new flower will blossom and the old weed disappear.

Remember: Nothing ever stays the same.

Good Luck

Help Abounds For Those Who Help Themselves

Filed under: Self Improvement Hall — admin at 12:01 am on Saturday, April 5, 2008

Throughout my life there has been many times where I have been stuck. I was unable to take the necessary steps to move forward. I didn’t know how to get out of bad relationships. I couldn’t get my finances under control. There were many times that I was unable to answer the phone or walk outside. Going to school or a job was the most terrifying act I could think of.

Today my life is radically different. I don’t fear interaction with others. I can go to work without feeling like I’m going to be sick on the way. I handle the business of life as a learning experience because it is. I can talk things over with friends an family that I was unable to before. Everyday I learn to live my life in the manner that I have envisioned. One full of wonder and joy.

This transformation did not take place overnight. It was a gradual process, beginning with the admission that I couldn’t handle things on my own. I was going to need some help. It wasn’t until I asked for help and began taking steps to improve my thought process that miracles began to happen.

When I began acting in a manner in accordance with my own thoughts and beliefs. Neat things began to happen. When I felt out of place in a public situation someone I was familiar with showed up. When I needed money to pay a bill an unexpected check would arrive. When I was unsure how to handle a particular situation a friend would recount a similar experience and resolution.

The only difference between myself today and the old me is that I have made a commitment to live a different life. I ask for help. I take direction when needed. I seek a new path that I wish to be a willing participant in creating. The new path is MY life.

How to Turn Adversity Into Personal Empowerment

Filed under: Self Improvement Hall — admin at 12:42 pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2008

There was a point in my life when it seemed like everything was going wrong and it seemed like one bad thing lead to another bad thing in a never-ending cascade of bad karma. I kept punishing myself with the question: Why me? Or Why does this always happen to me and not anyone else? I tortured myself by reliving past mistakes and I spent countless hours dwelling on what I should have done and I constantly beat myself up daily over these questions and self-criticisms. I eventually hit rock bottom with this type of thinking and I didn’t realize until I hit rock bottom that such a mind-frame only works to manifest more pain, missed opportunities and bad luck into my life. To make a financial analogy to my experience, I had essentially run myself into the ground with emotional debt and ended up bankrupt.

A Turning Point

After hitting rock bottom, it finally occurred to me that I was manifesting my own “bad luck,” or negative karma, by focusing on my own negative intentions and not taking responsibility for my own life. I had relinquished all the control I had over my life and my destiny by blaming others and taking the role of the “victim.” I was trying to control the uncontrollable environment that I was in and when I was not able to exert any control, I ended up feeling helpless and powerless.

It was then that I realized that I had little or no control over that environment that I was in. I could not control the unexpected events that happened in my life, nor could I control another person’s way of thinking. I realized that I was no different than anyone else in this regard. Things were not just happening to methose same things were happening to everyone around me in some way, shape or form. The difference was that I was taking those events personally and spending most of my time and energy on manifesting negative intentions, rather than moving forward with my life.

Taking Responsibility for your Life

Through extensive research and from my own personal experiences, the science of manifesting success is really not that complicated. I don’t think anyone can argue the point that everyone will at some point in their lives encounter adversity. Those that ultimately fail in the game called life are the ones that remain stuck in the past, always blaming others for their misfortunes and playing the part of the victim. While this might deflect some of the pain experienced at the time, it is also very disempowering because it leaves you helpless and with no control over your own life. While you can’t change the fact that negative events will impact your life at some point, you can change how you personally view and handle those negative experiences.

Now some people say to focus on the good things in every bad situation. I personally find that difficult to do because inherently some events are so bad that there might be no good in that situation or it might be so painful that the good is too impossible to see. Instead, I advocate analyzing the situation by asking yourself the question, “What lesson can I extract from this experience that will help me in the future?” By using past negative experiences as learning lessons, you effectively move yourself out of the victim mode and move yourself into the self-coaching mode as you apply that negative experience into a useful learning tool that can be used in a positive way towards your own personal growth and development.

So, as an example, let’s say that a personal relationship ended in a way that was less than pleasant. Someone who is destined to fail at life would blame the other person for ruining the relationship or for victimizing them. This negative manifestation of emotional energy only generates additional bad luck or karma to fall onto that person’s life because they become so focused on blaming and diverting responsibility that they miss out on all the opportunities for the good things that inevitably come along their way. It’s totally the rule of getting more of what you focus on in life. In that same example, a person who has the ability to succeed in life will take a look at the same situation and tell themselves, “Yeah, the break up sucked, but what I learned from it was x,y,z.” This is empowering because now the person is taking responsibility for their own life and turning this otherwise negative event into a lesson that will aid their future. Just remember that you have little or no control over your environment, but you have every possible control over how you deal with that environment. Highly successful people retain and exercise their own inner-control when their environment knocks them down. Conversely, the people who fail at life relinquish their power to control their own thoughts and instead focus vainly on how to control their uncontrollable environment.

Key Points:

• Accept the fact that you have no control over your environment or anyone else. The only thing you have control over is how you handle yourself when the uncontrollable environment impacts your life.

• Remember that pain, anger, and negative emotions damages you more than anyone else around you.

•Blaming only turns you into the helpless victim and it turns the other person(s) into the villain. While this might ease the pain initially, it damages your ability to move forward towards obtaining viable solutions.

• Stop being a victim and take responsibility for your life and the actions you make.

• Don’t beat yourself up emotionally for mistakes made in the past. Mistakes are how we learn and grow as individuals. Instead, extract the lessons learned from those mistakes that can be applied to your future.
